Canadian Dollar Morning Update April 14, 2014
USD/CAD Open: 1.0980-1.0982 Overnight Range: 1.0959-1.0995
The Canadian dollar was rangebound in overnight currency exchange markets. Oil is at $103.62 and gold is at $1,321. US futures are positive. Today, US retail sales data is released.
The short term Canadian dollar technicals are bearish. For today, USD resistance is at 1.1180 and 1.1260. Support is at 1.0890 and 1.0610.
US retail sales data today was better than expected. Increased tensions in the Ukraine have created somewhat of a risk off environment. The loonie seems content being rangebound looking for direction. The focus this short week will be on tensions in the Ukraine, corporate earnings, the Bank of Canada policy update, and CPI data.
