Canadian Dollar USD/CAD FX Morning Update August 30, 2013
USD/CAD Open: 1.0523-1.0525 Overnight Range: 1.0520-1.0541
The Canadian dollar was rangebound in overnight currency exchange markets. Oil is at $107.86 and gold is at $1,395. NY futures are positive today. Today, the US releases consumer spending, Chicago PMI, and consumer sentiment data and Canada releases GDP data.
The short term Canadian dollar technicals are bearish. For today, USD resistance is at 1.0580 and 1.0850. Support is at 1.0470, 1.0250, and 1.0150.
The UK parliament voted against military action in Syria which has eased global tensions but the US has vowed to move ahead. The focus will also be on economic data that is to be released and if Canadian GDP can surprise to the upside, the Canadian dollar will benefit. The safe haven of the US dollar remains on the minds of many as we head in to a long weekend.
